This visual effects glossary is a work in progress and is by no means an exhaustive list. I work on it when I have free time. ;) A large number of definitions I wrote myself (sometimes late at night), so if you spot any errors, please let me know. Also, if there is a term you dont know the meaning of or think should be included, please let me know.

animation - The process of conveying movement by displaying a sequence of images over time.
animatronics - Puppets of human, animal, or creature form controlled by an operator manually or remotely via electronic or radio control.
